Time for Renewal

The unworthy self– we know that it exists within most of us– living at some level of unhealed energy. But what is it really? Is it a belief that we have done something that is so unacceptable that we are no longer worthy...and worthy of what?
Are we not worthy of the world’s love?
Are we not worthy of God’s Love?
Are we not worthy of human love?
The feelings are of being so “broken” or “damaged” that we have decided somewhere along the road that we will never measure up in the world. We decided then that we can only do the best we can. It will never be enough, but we will try.
Then, we grow as much good as we can. We plant beautiful gardens right next to trash heaps. We have beautiful rooms in our homes, yet our closets are a mass of the clutter of our unresolved past. We are trying to create something worthy, yet the unworthy still remains.
This unworthy self within each of us is the one who maintains addictions, stops forward motion, and most importantly hinders our ability to give and receive love. If anyone looked very closely at the fabric of our lives, they would eventually see the dust ladened bins of trash that can never be thrown away. And then, they would, of course, not be able to love us anymore. So, we rarely even try.
The unworthy self is born when our childlike innocence is somehow broken. Something occurs within our life when we are told that we are not enough-we are unacceptable and we believe it. This sets up experience after experience that proves we are truly unworthy and must earn the love of others. This very idea of earning love keeps love away.
Next time you look at that area of your life where you have crammed the unworthiness that you do not want the world to see...next time...face it and love it. It is the innocent child within you that was given an idea which became it’s experience. Teach it something different. Tell that innocent self that it no longer needs to hide. It is a beautiful aspect of your life that you need in order to fully become.
Unworthy Self– becomes Worthy Self
I am now able, capable, and innocent.
It’s ok for me not to know all the answers.
I am loved by God. I am loved by self.
I am ready to be loved by the world.
